Carla Massiel murder case read to start

The Third Court of Instruction of the Province of Santo Domingo ordered the start of the hearing against Darwin José Trinidad and Juan Cabral Martínez accused of the death of 10-year old Carla Massiel, who went missing on 25 June 2015.

Judge Hilda Sánchez excluded for lack of evidence, Liliana Santana, who relatives of the victim had accused of being involved in the murder of the child. Santana is daughter of late physician Hipólito Santana, owner of the Clínica Integral, who was mentioned in the investigations by Trinidad. Trinidad says his participation was just to dispose of the corpse after organs were extracted by Liliana Santana for her father.

The body was the child was found on 16 August 2016 after the child had been missing for over a year.

The accused are in pretrial custody at La Victoria and San Pedro de Macoris jails.
