Announcing its plans to start flying this 2018, Victor Miguel Pacheco says that Flycana is born from the transformation of the Dominican airline in formation, Dominican Wings. The airline has an advantage. One of the partners of the airline is Viva Air (Viva Colombia, Viva Peru) founder William Shaw. Shaw has stepped down from the leadership at the airline company, leaving as president Declan Ryan, son of Ryanair co-founder Tony Ryan.

In a press release, Shaw forecasts that travel to the Dominican Republic will double by 2023. He said this will be achieved by introducing low cost fares and opening more direct routes to save money and time to passengers. He said Flycana would be introducing fares of US$49 on travel to New York.

The company is still working on its departure airports in the Dominican Republic.
