Experts from the Americas come to talk about arbitration and corruption

Experts on the Odebrecht corruption scandal in the Americas from five countries in the region will present a series of talks on a range of perspectives on arbitration in a seminar entitled, “Challenges and difficulties of arbitration today: Laundering and Corruption” on Friday, 29 June 2018, at the Hotel Embajador, located on Av. Sarasota in Santo Domingo. The event is organized by the Center for Alternative Dispute Resolution (CRC), of the Chamber of Commerce and Production of Santo Domingo (CCPSD). The event will last from 8:30am to 12:30pm. Ricardo Koenig, president of the executive board of the CRC will make the opening remarks.

Other arbitration experts speaking include:
Roger Rubio, from Peru; Francisco González de Cossío, from Mexico; Nancy Anzoategui, from Argentina; Luis Martínez, from the United States; and Manuel Fermín Cabral and Luisa Nuño, from the Dominican Republic, will be the speakers of the two central topics: “Corruption and Arbitration in Latin America” and “Money Laundering and International Arbitration”.

Also, the speakers will discuss Odebrecht in the panel on “the most recent cases of corruption in the region: challenges to the institutionality of mediation”, “the arbitrability of corruption” “corruption and investment arbitration”, “new law of of Dominican assets and arbitration, “cases of money laundering in international arbitration” and “the role of the arbitral tribunal in the event of suspicion of laundering”.
