Travel up 10% in May

The Central Bank statistics department reports an increase of 7% in the flow of travelers in May 2018 compared to May 2017. In May, air arrivals were 406,178, or 33,290 more passengers than in May last year. Foreign travel to the country was up 6%, or 24,867 more tourists. Non-resident Dominicans showed a 13.7% increase, or 8,423 more travelers.
Overall, May 2017 to May 2018 shows a 5.9% variation.
Most travelers to the Dominican Republic are from North America (USA, Canada and Mexico) with 57.9%, followed by Europe with 21.4%, South America 16.6% and Central America and the Caribbean with 3.8%.
