Calls for justice in Los Tres Brazos case

Residents in the Los Tres Brazos area gathered in front of the Palace of Justice in the Ciudad Nueva, calling for the return of their land that, according to the protestors was illegally sold. According to Miciades Geraldo, spokesman of the Committee the Fight for the Defense of Los Tres Brazos, the community wants the case to be classified as a class action lawsuit, insisting that all of those involved in the alleged illegal sales should be convicted and sent to jail. According to the spokesperson for the group, the alleged illegal sales affect the whole neighborhood and many residents were forced to take out loans to cover the cost of recovering the title deeds to their property.

The 300-page court filing file was recently deposited by the Public Prosecution Service. Reporters following the case expected that yesterday, Monday 30 July 2018, the coercive measures would be unsealed against the ex-director of the Dominican Corporation of State Companies (CORDE), Leoncio Almánzar, national director of the Registers of Titles, Rosabel Castillo; Irving José Cruz, ex legal consultant of the same agency; Manuel Aybar, ex Real Estate manager; Domingo Gerardo Lebrón; brothers Carlos Aris Gómez Williams and Julio César Gómez Williams, main shareholders of INFEPA; Juana Ynés Gómez Williams, sister of the accused Gómez Williams and main shareholder and representative of the company Proyecciones Inmobiliarias GOWI. In addition, José Enrique de Pool Dominici, main shareholder and representative of the company Titulatec, and surveyors Ana Antonia Ozuna Nolasco and Hadonis Ruiz Mella were also implicated in the case.
