Cardiologist Douglas Bournigal and the general manager of GB Energy (Texaco) in the Dominican Republic, Bruno Vincent, died in a new ultra light two-seat motor glider crash on Sunday, 19 August 2018, just north of the La Isabela International Airport during the landing procedures. The aircraft was engulfed in flames, as reported by Hector Olivo, spokesman for the Dominican Civil Aviation Institute.
Bournigal was regarded as one of the best cardiologists in the country. He had previously worked successfully in Cleveland Clinic in Ohio.
