The future looks bright for Dominican basketball. This is the conclusion of many experts after the Dominican U-15 team won the U-15 Caribbean Basketball Cup, with an undefeated record of 6-0. The tournament ended on Sunday, 26 August 2018, with a 74-44 defeat by the Dominican team over the competitors from Mexico. It was played at the San Carlos and San Lázaro clubs courts in Santo Domingo.
The event was organized by José (Maita) Mercedes, who is the director of the national teams project of the Dominican Basketball Federation. It was sponsored by the Ministry of Sports, Creso and Molten, Nike and Gatorade.
