US Ambassador Robin Bernstein is scheduled to arrive to the Dominican Republic the afternoon of Thursday, 30 August 2018 from Miami, Florida. She has already been introducing herself to Dominicans with an Instagram video. She replaces Ambassador James (Wally) Brewster who ended his term just when President Donald Trump took the Presidency, on 20 January 2017. Robert Copley has served as acting ambassador.
Bernstein is the second woman to hold the position of US ambassador in the country. Her predecessor was Donna Hrinak, a career diplomat who held the post for three years, from 1994-1997.
