On Monday, 24 September 2018, the Dominican Armada intercepted a yola that was taking 14 people illegally to Puerto Rico.
The boat was detected in the Bay of Samaná, near to Arroyo Barril de Sánchez and the 14 people on board had left from Sabana de La Mar, Hato Mayor. They are now back in Sabana de la Mar where they are in custody awaiting court appearances.
