New Spirit Airlines flight from Orlando, Florida to Las Americas

The sound of typical Dominican music produced by a group of “perico ripiao” sounded throughout the arrival terminal at the Las Americas International Airport (SDQ) in Santo Domingo late last week as the inaugural Spirit Airlines flight arrived from Orlando International Airport (MCO) in Florida. The flights depart Orlando at 3:40pm with a scheduled arrival time of 6:20pm.

Spirit operations manager, Camilo Martelo, explained that with the opening of the SDQ-MCO route, Spirit Airlines increases the number of its weekly flights from the Dominican Republic to the United States to 21. The airline also flies to Fort Lauderdale from Las Americas.

The flight that began on 4 October will operate four times a week through 7 November. Starting 8 November, the flight will have a daily frequency.
