President Danilo Medina is scheduled to leave this Saturday, 27 October 2018 on the first trip of a Dominican statesman to the People’s Republic of China, reports El Nacional newspaper. In China he will meet President Xi Jinping on Monday, 29 October and will inaugurate the Dominican Embassy in Beijing. The meeting follows an agenda that was agreed upon during the recent visit of China Foreign Minister Wang Yi to the Dominican Republic on 20-21 September 2018.
President Danilo Medina and President Xi Jinping are scheduled to sign several important agreements for the strengthening of relations between both countries. The Dominican Republic agreed to full diplomatic relations with China on 1 May 2018 after a fruitful 75 years of relations with Taiwan.
