
On Sunday, 21 October 2018, President Danilo Medina announced that the middle class in the Dominican Republic makes up more than 30% of the Dominican population. Around 25% of the population lives in poverty.
Medina said that middle class growth is vital for development of any country in the world and that is why his administration is working to establish a robust middle class.
Medina spoke when visiting the south to meet with directors of agro-forestry projects in Hondo Valle, Juan Santiago, Sabaneta, Las Cañitas, Independencia, Bahoruco, Los Fríos and Barahona.
