Economy is on track

The governor of the Central Bank (BCRD), Héctor Valdez Albizu, has said that the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) increased by 6.9% in the period January to September 2018. This is the highest in the Latin American and Caribbean region. He said the Dominican economy has grown in accordance with expectations. International Accumulated inflation in September 2018 was 1.52%. International reserves as of September 2018 were US$7.33 billion. Exports of goods and services were US$8.27 billion, from January to September 2018, up US$795 million.

Valdez Albizu also said that during the first nine months of 2018 private credit showed an increase of RD$70.36 billion representing a growth of 7.2%. He said that despite the adverse scenario in Latin America, the International Monetary Fund (IMF) in its latest report increased the growth projection for the country to 6.4% at the end of 2018, which would make it the highest in the region.
