ProConsumidor ordered CBS Developments Nuevas Terrazas, builder of the Residencial Nuevas Terrazas, to pay its customers RD$25 million for having not fulfilled contracts they entered into with their customers. The customers complained of irregularities in false advertising, lack of safety, breach of contract, construction vices, sanitary issues, and other problems affecting the neighborhood. The promotion had offered the construction of a clubhouse, recreational areas, basketball and soccer court, parks and a pool, none of which has happened yet. The project calls for the construction of over 400 apartments.
ProConsumidor said the company needs to deliver to each purchaser guarantees of the repairs and constructions that need to be carried out, as well as plans for the construction of adequate water and sewage systems duly approved by the Ministry of Public Works and following Santo Domingo potable water (CAASD) guidelines. The company has 120 days to deliver.
