Xiomara Guante confirmed to preside over ADP

The National Electoral Commission of the Dominican Association of Public School Teachers (ADP) has officially announced the victory of Xiomara Guante in the 10 October 2018 election to preside the organization. Her term will begin on 25 November 2018. The president of the commission said it took the organization 15 days to collect all the documents for the vote in which 76,557 public school teachers participated nationwide, or 70.76% of those eligible to vote. Almonte won with 46,182 votes, or 60.30%, versus runner up Eduardo Hidalgo, who received 25,858 votes or 33.78%. Hidalgo had sought reelection.

As a result of the elections, the National Executive Committee now is under the leadership of the opposition party (PRM) with 13 positions, followed by 7 positions for the ruling PLD and one for the Espacio Magisterial Narciso González.
