President Danilo Medina and the Dominican government mission attended the formal opening of the Dominican Embassy in Beijing, a day after meeting President Xi Jinping at the Great Hall of the People, on 2 November 2018. Foreign Minister of China Wang Yi spoke of how the new bilateral ties serve the fundamental interests of the Dominican people and is in step to the trend of the times. The first Dominican ambassador in China is Briunny Garabito Segura.
