The World Health Organization says that 60% of the Dominican population is overweight. The Dominican Society of Cardiology is alerting to the health consequences on occasion of the Global Obesity Day. The physicians say obesity is a global epidemic that is curtailing the emotional and physical well-being of too many in the Dominican Republic. Dr. Claudia Almonte, president of the Dominican heart society said most of the patients 15-59 years old they are seeing are overweight.
