The executive vice president of the Dominican Public Electricity Corporation (CDEEE), Ruben Jiménez Bichara, reaffirmed last week that the Punta Catalina coal-fired generating facility would begin operations between January and February 2019. He says the plant will make generate 200MW for the national electrical grid. Jimenez Bichara made the announcement when speaking during the monthly luncheon of the American Chamber of Commerce held in Santiago.
