President Danilo Medina on Tuesday, 18 December 2018 was in Santiago for the start of construction of a Marriott International hotel on Calle Del Sol in downtown Santiago city. The eight floor hotel follows along the recent announcement of Marriott International for the construction of luxury hotels in Puerto Plata, half an hour drive from Santiago.
Marriott already operates the Courtyard by Marriott on Autopista Duarte Km 9.
In the Dominican Republic Marriott International operates the brands: JW Marriott, Westin, Courtyard by Marriott, Four Points, Sheraton and Renaissance.
