North Santo Domingo sewage treatment ready for June 2019

Alejandro Montas, director of the Santo Domingo Aqueduct and Sewage Corporation (CAASD), says works are advancing on the construction of the bridge for the sanitary drainage pipes for the directing of sewage from northern National District to the Mirador Norte La Zurza Treatment Plant in northern Santo Domingo. The construction is scheduled to be inaugurated in July 2019 by President Danilo Medina.

The new sewage system will have a positive effect on the lives of 400,000 persons that live in 30 barrios in the area. The bridge is under construction parallel to the Jacinto B Peynado (Villa Mella) bridge and has a length of 240 lineal meters.

Alejandro Montas explained that the sewage system is under construction to resolve sanitary drainage for residents in the districts 2 and 3 of the National District. The system has a cost of RD$6 billion.
