The First Hall of the Administrative Disputes Court of the Superior Administrative Court (TSA) announced null the contract between the Alcaldia de Santo Domingo Norte and the multinational Lajun Corporation for the administration and operation of the Duquesa sanitary dump, the main garbage dump for Greater Santo Domingo. In September 2017, the Ministry of Environment took over the operations of the dump on grounds of national health issues.
The court ruled that Lajun violated articles 3.3, 13, 50 and paragraph II of at. 57 of Government Procurement Law 340-06.
Lajun Corporation has taken the city government to international arbitration demanding US$300 million in compensation for the cancelation of its management of the facility.
