On the night of Sunday, 13 January 2018, three people died and several others were injured during what is thought to have been a clash between rival gangs. The victims were identified as Henry Cruz, Gerald Carrión and Manuel Henríquez. The incident occurred in the Simon Bolivar sector, at the intersection of Nicolas de Ovando Avenue and 30 May at around one in the morning. All of those killed and injured had been shot. According to witnesses, this type of incident is not usual in the area and that one of the deceased was a known criminal.
