22,509 foreign children born November and December 2018

In November and December 2018, some 22,509 children were born to foreign parents and registered in the Libro de Extranjería, according to the Dirección del Servicio Nacional de Salud (SNS) that monitors hospitals around the country.

Of these, 669 were births at the country’s main maternity hospital, the Maternidad Nuestra Señora de La Altagracia, in the National District. In second place is the Presidente Estrella Ureña public hospital in Santiago with 519 births to foreigners. At the Nuestra Señora de la Altagracia public hospital in Higuey, some 384 children were born to foreigners. The report also says that 218 children were born to foreigners in those two months at the Jaime Mota hospital in Barahona.
