Chilly temperatures under 15C are forecast for mountain towns and high surf for north coast towns, says the weather service (Onamet). Lows of 10C to 13C are forecast for the mountain town of Constanza.
Rains are forecast for most of the country as a cold front moves from the north to the southeast. Rains are forecast in Puerto Plata, Santiago, La Vega, Monseñor Nouel, Samana and La Altagracia. Waves of up to 11 feet are forecast from Montecristi in the northwest to Cabo Engaño, in the southeast. Small craft should stay in port, given the abnormal waves and wind gusts.
In the city of Santo Domingo, morning temperatures of around 21C are forecast. It will be chillier in Santiago, with morning temperatures of around 18/20C forecast. Punta Cana will enjoy less cold weather, with lows of 22/24 in the early morning. Warm temperatures of 27-32C are forecast for noontime nationwide.
