Festival de Cine Global in Santo Domingo

The pioneering film festival, Festival de Cine Global opened at the National Theater on Wednesday, 30 January with the premiere of Mexican comedy, “Como si fuera la primera vez”. The comedy was filmed at the Lantica studios in Juan Dolio. Director Mauricio Valle and actors Ximena Romo, Paco Ruedas and Alejandro Camacho were here for the opening.
The 12th FCGD festival continues at the Palacio del Cine at BlueMall Santo Domingo through 6 February 2019.

Omar de la Cruz, director of the 12th FCGD, said that other special guests coming for the film festival are Spanish judge Baltazar Garzón. A documentary on the judge’s work, The Code, is part of the Film Festival program. Garzón earned international fame when he took the Chilean dictator Augusto Pinochet to justice, leading a global movement of judges, prosecutors and lawyers to guarantee international punishment for major economic financial and environmental crimes.

Also here is US film director Brett Ratner, US director John Singleton and Jesse Terrero, who will be recognized during the festival.

Korea is the guest country this year.
