Culture Minister Eduardo Selman announced that the Santo Domingo International Book Fair (FILSD2019) set for 26 April to 5 May 2019 will be dedicated to the late Dominican writer Virgilio Díaz Grullón. Puerto Rico has been named the guest country for the event. A large delegation from neighboring Puerto Rico is expected to attend the book fair and several talks and presentations by Puerto Rican authors are scheduled.
The book fair in 2019 will take place at different venues in the Colonial City, a first. These include the Fortaleza de Santo Domingo (Ozama) and the Plaza España. Its traditional venue, the Plaza de la Cultura, is under renovation.
