The Federación Nacional de Trabajadores del Transporte Social Cristianos (Fenattransc), has requested the Ministry of Hacienda, Tax Agency (DGII) and the Attorney General Office to explain how the multimillion peso funds from driver fines are being allocated.
Mario Díaz, president of Fenattransc, said: “We would like to know what you have done with the millions of pesos collected during the period from 1 July 2017 to 28 January 2019, for fines paid by drivers who have violated Traffic and Transit Law 63-17.”
He said the law establishes that 75% of the resources will be allotted to the Attorney General Office and 25% to the National Traffic and Transit Institute (Intrant). He said the institutions have yet to tell how much they are collecting for the increase in traffic fine values.
