
Santiago Water and Sewer Corporation (CORAASAN) director Silvio Durán has announced the start of several projects designed to improve the water supply in Santiago province. The projects will be funded by US$100 million in financing from the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB).
Durán said they are working with neighborhood boards and municipal governments in the projects. These include: the Cienfuegos aqueduct, the water tanks in Gurabo, and the South Zone of Santiago, along Yapur Dumit Ave., and many new sewer lines throughout the area.
Sanitation works to improve the environment in Santiago are also planned for Licey al Medio, Tamboril, Villa Gonzalez, Navarrete, San Jose de las Matas, Baitoa, Puñal and all of the municipal districts in the area.
