The National Meteorology (Onamet) declared the south, southwest and northwest in extreme drought. The most affected by the drought are the municipalities of Villa Vasquez, Santiago Rodriguez in the northwest, Jimaní and Barahona and Hondo Valle in the southwest. Moca in the center of the country is also affected by extreme drought conditions.
