It’s time for Master of the Ocean 2019

The nation’s best surfers, windsurfers, kite surfers and stand up paddleboarders (SUP) will compete against internationally renowned aquatic athletes in Cabarete at the Master of the Ocean 2019 competition. The event is set for 23 to 28 February 2019. Coinciding with the competition are the 27 February celebrations, commemorating the 175th independence of the Dominican Republic.

Some 60 athletes from all around the world are registered for the 15th edition running of this water sport superpower event. Competitions will be held at the beaches of Playa Encuentro and Bozo Beach in Cabarete.

Event organizers Marcus Bohm and Patricia Hiraldo say that competitors from the United States, Canada, Germany, France, Estonia and Barbados will be in attendance. Hawaiian Zane Kekoa Pardue Schweitzer, and German sailor Christopher Bünger “Christopher del Mar” (Sudkap Surfing in Westerland) will be present for the event.

The Master of the Ocean 2019 competition is being sponsored by the Dominican Republic’s Ministry of Tourism.
