
The director of the National Police, Major General Ney Aldrin Bautista, has announced that from 2012 to 2018 some 3,235 police officers were dismissed, 4,979 were penalized and 6,609 were charged for a total of 14,823 officers disciplined.
According to the statistics from the Internal Affairs department at the National Police, in 2018 alone there were 848 dismissals, 1,406 sanctions and 2,052 were charged. In this year to date there have been another 840 police officers fired.
He pointed out that far more police officers are being charged now as back in 2012 there were only 800 who faced judicial proceedings.
