The general said that any such report is dealt with immediately and the punishment is handed out right away.

At the same time, the Army chief announced that as a result of Operation Border Fence, some 24,000 undocumented persons were prevented from entering the country from across the border. He noted that the border is manned by 1,200 soldiers, and the border patrol units have been reinforced as well as the elite units and commandoes.

The Dominican border with Haiti is around 376 km long.
