
The director of the National Health Service (SNS), Chanel Rosa Chupany says that the 30% decline in neonatal deaths is evidence that the new protocols in place are working. He said that during the four weeks of January there were 224 deaths of babies in their first 28 days, that is 56 less than the 280 for the same month in 2018. Rosa Chupany said that the neonatology areas at public hospitals have been reinforced, with specialized staff, better equipment and the monitoring of compliance with medical protocols and care guidelines.
