
During the months of January and February 2019, according to the preliminary statistics compiled by the Center for Exports and Imports (CEI-RD), gold ranks as the leading export with an increase of 6.84% compared to the same time period last year, increasing from US$1.62 billion to US$1.73 billion. Other leading exports are cigars, circuit breakers, medical devices, T-shirts and shirts.
The main increases in exports are in the categories of tension circuit breakers, ferronickel and cigars.
Exports that registered a decline were copper minerals, medical devices.
A 10% increase is reported for the manufacturing in free zones. Farm exports were up 12.9%.
February exports were up 3.76%, especially to markets in Canada, USA and China.
