
As of February 2019, the Administradoras de Fondos de Pensiones (AFP) had bought RD$141.9 billion in government bonds. This is about a third of the RD$528.4 billion in government bond placement in the local market. The AFPs are the biggest holders of government debt in the country.
According to the latest report from the Public Credit Agency (Dirección de Crédito Público), the AFPs their placement in government bonds increased by 17.8% in 2018. Yield of these bonds is on average 12%.
