
Viva Wyndham V Samaná, Cosón Bay and Sublime Samaná hotels are hosting the Xterra Dominican Republic, a challenging sports event that features fun events for all the family. Xterra Samaná is one of the 39 prestigious races in 29 countries where amateur racers can earn a qualifying spot to race at the 24th annual Xterra World Championship on 27 October 2019 in Kapalua, Maui, Hawaii with US$100,000 in cash prizes.
The Xterra Samaná, Dominican Republic features triathlon and trail run in the categories of Off Road, Trail Run, Stand Up Paddle (SUP) and Kids Run. There will be cash prizes for US$7,500.
Amanda Santana, sales vice president for Viva Resorts, says that since the event began five years ago it has served to position the country as a sports destination.
Polibio Schiffino, president of Caribbean Multixport, the local franchisee, explains that since 2018, Xterra Samana has been a qualifier for the Xterra Panamerican Tour, that is the best-known mountain triathlon event.
