
Foreign Relations Minister Miguel Vargas has inaugurated the Institute for Dominicans Overseas (INDEX) in Panama. INDEX will be in charge of affairs for the Dominicans in Panama and will have the responsibility for assisting Dominicans who are living abroad. Vargas said the Panama office is the first of many that will be opened abroad to assist Dominicans overseas.
Dominican ambassador to Panama, Rafael Tejeda, said that there were around 35,000 Dominicans living in Panama, most doing low-paid work
