On Tuesday, 9 April 2019, President Danilo Medina was in Montecristi to inaugurate the first phase of the Inikia Energy’s Parque Eolico Agua Clara, a wind park with installed capacity for up to 50MW. The developer is IC Power DR Operations, S.A.S.
Inikia Energy reports having made an investment of US$103 million in this first phase of the renewable energy project, their first in the country.
The wind farm is installed in an area of 120 hectares located between the provinces of Montecristi, Valverde and Puerto Plata on the north coast.
According to Inikia’s executive director, Willem Van Twembeke, the plant will have an annual estimated production of 170,000 megawatts per hour and will serve around 250,000 people. 25 wind turbines with capacity for 2 MW each have been operating since February.
