Officers of the National Drug Control Agency (DNCD), supported by the Prosecution Service and intelligence agencies, have confiscated 86 packets of what is thought to be cocaine in an incident in Santo Domingo East.

The operation was being carried out near the East-West tollbooth, on the Las Americas Highway, when they stopped three men in an SUV and a truck.
The vehicles were then searched and the drugs were found hidden behind the rear seat of one of them. The men were arrested and the investigation continues to see if there is any relation with the small airplane that landed in La Altagracia last week. Also confiscated were three 9mm pistols, bullets, more than RD$200,000 in cash along with the vehicles, cell phones and other evidence. The detained men, all Dominican, were handed over to the authorities.
