The People’s Republic of China press agency reports on the visit of Radhames Camacho, president of the Chamber of Deputies, to Beijing on 17 April 2019. Camacho led a group of eight legislators invited by the government of China for a five-day visit He was received by Li Zhanshu, chairman of the National People’s Congress Standing Committee.
China stands ready to enhance cooperation with the Dominican Republic in all areas under the guidance of the two presidents and to consolidate the foundation of friendship so as to usher bilateral ties into a brighter future, said Li, as reported by Xinhuanet on occasion of the visit of Camacho.
Camacho and the other legislators are visiting to participate in the second Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation in Beijing. Li said the forum will provide more opportunities for countries to realize common development and help to build a community with a shared future for humanity.
Camacho was accompanied on the official visit by several other Dominican legislators, including the spokesman for the ruling PLD party, Gustavo Sánchez; fellow PLD deputies Hamlet Melo, Jesús Alberti and Víctor Fadul; Radhamés González, spokesman for the PRD, a PLD ally; and Fausto Ruiz, PRSC deputy.
The vote of legislators is needed to pass important loans and contracts with the Chinese government named contractors and companies.
