Deputy Lucia Medina (Yomaira), sister of President Danilo Medina, was again all over social media as she tries to gain support for a possible senatorial candidacy for the province of San Juan de la Maguana. Social media posts reported that over Easter she was seeking voter favor by handing out the ingredients to make sweet cream of beans, the traditional Easter fare. A video surfaced supposedly showing her handing out money to people bathing in the Ingeñito River in San Juan de la Maguana.
On social media many observers have said that this type of practice should be eradicated and that candidacies should be chosen for their proposals rather than gifts.
It was also reported on social media that she spent time handing over first aid kits to Easter Week drivers and nine laptops to the students with the highest grades at the UASD Center in San Juan.
