
Prosecutors announced the arrest of a chauffeur of the National Institute of Forensic Sciences (Inacif) for being part of a criminal ring dedicated to weapons and drugs trafficking and in money laundering. Inacif driver Divari Nicolás Correa Rodríguez was arrested together with Jaime Mármol Medina in an inspection of a home in Cerro Alto, Santiago, by Police and prosecutors, according to a PGR press release.
On-site, the law enforcement officers seized 11 firearms, more than 2,000 bullets and 29 packages of a substance thought to be cocaine. Among the firearms were Uzi submachine guns. The prosecutors will request pre-trial custody measures.
