President Danilo Medina issued Decree 168-19 with new rules for the purchase of farm products by the government. Upon making the announcement, Presidency Minister Gustavo Montalvo said that farm produce needs to be sourced directly from local producers, and not through intermediaries. The decree orders that preference be given to local producers in the procurement processes. The decree seeks to stimulate local production.
