Arrest and death following attack on security head

Family members of the head of security of the parents of First Lady Candida Montilla, Domingo García Sugilio, have confirmed that his condition is stable and that he would be taken off life support yesterday, Monday, 3 June 2019. However, he still remains in intensive care and will require further surgery.

García Sugilio, was shot eight times during an attack on Thursday afternoon, 30 May, outside the home of the First Lady’s parents in Alma Rosa II in Santo Domingo East and is currently at la Plaza de la Salud Hospital.

The 51-year-old National Police major has been the security for President Danilo Medina’s in-laws for the past eight years.

According to the preliminary report, García Sugilio was in front of the house, talking with two people when two men and a woman appeared on the scene and stole his firearm.

Those accused of the crime are Luisa Marina Elías García, Luis Alexander Lambert (La Falacia) and Osmil Eduardo García Lambert (Tiki Tiki).

Yesterday, Monday, 3 June a Santo Domingo judge handed down one year in preventive custody to Elias Garcia, to be served in Najayo women’s prison. The public prosecutor, Angel Medina, added that the accused attackers had eight complaints filed against them for armed robbery and assault.

It also appears that on Friday night, 31 May, the police killed Osmil Eduardo García Lambert (Tiki Tiki) during an incident in Guachupita.

In a late development, Luis Alexander Lambert (La Falacia) turned himself in to the authorities on 3 June 2019.
