Rafael Joaquín Balaguer appeared on a Nuria Piera TV show claiming former President Joaquín Balaguer is his father. Balaguer is seeking to run for a congressional seat, a deputy for the Partido Reformista Social Cristiano (PRSC). He grew up in Puerto Rico when his father was President of the Republic, but the later never publicly recognized him nor none of the other who claim Balaguer as their father. In spite of this situation, Balaguer described his father as “the best in the world.” The former President never married.
“I’m going for my people, I’m going to achieve it, I’m Balaguer, my father never surrendered nor am I going to surrender,” he stated on the TV show.
