
At least eight people were arrested yesterday, Tuesday 4 June 2019, in the midst of protests in the municipality of Esperanza, Valverde province when protesting to demand public works. There were also protests in Navarette in support of those in Esperanza. Schools were closed in Esperanza, business was affected, and there was no public transport.
The municipality was quickly occupied by Police who made several arrests.
The protesters were complaining that the authorities appeared to be indifferent to the demands of the local population.
