Listin Diario reports that the United States has not received any formal request from the Dominican authorities to participate in the investigations into the shooting of David Ortiz.
“We would not actively investigate a case in the Dominican Republic without a formal request from the Dominican government,” the US Embassy in the Dominican Republic, told Listin Diario reporters.
The US Embassy said they shared information with the Dominican authorities to confirm that one of the suspects is a fugitive of justice from the United States.
The inquiry was about speculation that agents of the FBI and DEA of the United States were participating in the investigations.
“The government of the United States regularly talks with the Dominican government on security issues and exchanges information on a wide range of issues,” says the communication sent by the Embassy to the inquiry by Listin Diario.
“Interaction with numerous law enforcement agencies and representatives of foreign governments is a daily activity. In this case, we have shared information with Dominican authorities, including confirmation of a suspect who is a fugitive from US justice,” the document states.
