The Dominican Republic Fashion Week (RDFW) announces a change in format for its 11th version. The fashion event will be held 23 to 27 July 2019 at the JW Marriott.

The event is being held under the banner of “Fashion for a Purpose.” This year there will be runway shows with people in wheelchairs, street children, seniors, large-size models, people with different abilities for the inclusion program. The RDFW is also working with the Attorney General Office and there will be a runway show, “For a Second Chance,” with designs presented by jail inmates.

Designer and businesswoman Melkis Díaz, CEO of the RDFW, stressed: “After 10 years we will continue working hand-in-hand with people and companies that promote the values we have as human beings regardless of ethnicity, social status, physical condition, age, state of vulnerability and all other factors that promote social discrimination.”

Also, the designer stressed: “Fashion is not synonymous with frivolity or product for an exclusive elite, but a creative activity that provides resources to those involved, both in our country and in the big cities of fashion,” added Diaz.
