Dominican law enforcement authorities say that three Venezuelans were arrested at the La Romana International Airport. Those detained are pilot Claudio A. Di Genova and passengers Dominican-Venezuelan Estela Gómez de Rodríguez and Jonnathan Luiciano del Valle Mata Figueroa.
They are accused of attempting to export US$1,378,178 to Venezuela in a small plane, according to the Diario Libre print edition of 27 June 2019. The cash was found in the luggage of the occupants of the flight.
One of the arrested, Jonnathan Luiciano del Valle Mata Figueroa appears in a media report as a Venezuelan government contractor. As reported, he is a Venezuelan military.
