An all-inclusive Marriott to open in Punta Cana

Marriott International announced last week that it plans to open a 650-room all-inclusive resort in Punta Cana in 2022. The new resort falls under the Autograph Collection of Marriott.

“Our new all-inclusive resort platform is a natural progression for Marriott International,” said Tony Capuano, Marriott’s executive vice president and global chief development officer.

As reported in a press release on 5 August 2019, Marriott had not seriously competed in that market segment until now. Marriott International, Inc. launches the all-inclusive platform to serve this increasingly popular vacation segment. The lodging, food and other services for a single price model has been a vital element of the Punta Cana destination success.

Marriott wants in. The company says it is responding to consumers’ growing desire around the world for premium, worry-free vacations.

For the Punta Cana all-inclusive, Marriott International is working with DIT Hotels, based in Sofia, Bulgaria. “We are thrilled to be developing an all-inclusive Autograph Collection resort in the Dominican Republic in collaboration with Marriott International,” said Mihail Popov, CEO of DIT Hotels. “Working with Marriott International means we have access to its brand, design and business expertise as we develop our resort in Punta Cana,” said Popov. He added: “Once we open, we’ll benefit from the company’s operational excellence and base of enthusiastic Marriott Bonvoy members who are always seeking out new experiences.”

Marriott operates Autograph Collection hotels in Bahamas, Colombia, Costa Rica and Panama in the Caribbean and Latin American region.
